Disability Pride Month

Why We Celebrate Disability Pride Month

At CaringTide, we believe every individual with a disability deserves to be seen, valued, and empowered. That’s why July’s Disability Pride Month holds deep meaning for us and for so many of the families we serve. Disability Pride Month isn’t just about awareness. It’s about affirmation. It’s about challenging outdated ideas that frame disability as something to be pitied or hidden. It’s a chance to proudly say: Disability is a natural part of human diversity. Every life has value. Every voice matters.

And for some of us on the CaringTide team, this isn’t just a message we share, it’s a truth we live.

“Years ago, I walked into an orphanage in Eastern Europe where children with disabilities were tied to cribs and left behind. We walked out with our remarkable, chromosomally-enhanced son. That experience forever shaped my belief in the worth and potential of every child.”
Carly, Client Care Manager at CaringTide

That personal experience is a powerful reminder of what happens when societies exclude and what’s possible when they embrace. Disability Pride Month honors the trailblazers who fought for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the generations of self-advocates who continue to demand access, equality, and dignity. It’s also a time for families, like yours and ours, to reflect, celebrate, and push for even more progress.

We stand proud because our children deserve to be seen, valued, and empowered every single day.

This is Disability Pride. And we’re proud to be part of it.
